For a moment, picture the setting…
whitewashed buildings clinging to the cliffs, infinite views across the Mediterranean and the allure of endless sunshine. Perched above the Aegean Sea, Grace Hotel of Auberge Resorts Collection really was the dreamiest backdrop for a styled elopement in Santorini.

I arrived at The Grace Hotel in the afternoon, around 3pm. I was so excited to get started capturing this beautiful styled elopement in Santorini. With the circumstances surrounding the highly unfortunate pandemic, this was a day I never thought would come. However, it happened and it was like I was in a dream.
I thought the heat would be very overpowering, but it wasn’t as intense as I’d originally expected. The light on the island is nothing like I’d ever encountered before. As a photographer, lighting is so important and I really wanted to perfect these images. If you’re getting married in Santorini, don’t be afraid to have your ceremony around 3:00/4:00pm. You can still have beautiful images at this time of day (it will be warm but still gorgeous!).
Firstly, I captured Paula & Dan relaxing in their private pool together and the light was just glowing. The sun radiated off their skin and gave them a natural airbrushed sheen.
Moving forward to the bridal preparations, documenting Paula playfully posing in delicate lace white bridal lingerie. Of course, I also wanted to capture the details such as the opulent wedding stationary by Paige & Co. and beautiful jewellery by Soru and Martina Dorta.
Following on to the ceremony, we made our way to the terrace where a breathe taking golden window archway stood. It was surrounded by pastel blue and white blooms, elegantly placed with perfection. The colour palette was in harmony with the Mediterranean ocean.
A beautifully detailed embellished dress glistened in the sun. Catching the light with every movement. Paula & Dan held each other amongst the alluring floral arrangements. Their chemistry and passion for each other breezes through in every frame.
Nearby to the terrace was a white dome, situated looking out onto the landscape of islands that surround Santorini. It was just an iconic setting. Paula subsequently transitioned into a new wedding dress. It was long sleeved, embellished with beads and crystals and complete with a veil that twinkled with the sunbeams. She looked like an angel, simply stunning.
After a short time, the sun was beginning to set. The landscape morphing from an intense blue, into a blushing pink and meeting with a golden-orange hew. There it was, the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen.
Before I started capturing the finale to the elopement, Paula transitioned into the most enchanting wedding dress. It featured a floral lace bodice, a floating skirt and delicate straps. The skirt floated elegantly in the breeze and when we reached the cliff edge, Paula & Dan danced and held each other as the sun descended.
Just before the sun had set completely, we made our way further down the cliff edge. The ocean turned into a charming aquamarine shade of blue and Paula’s dress glided with her in the sea breeze. This enabled some beautifully wild, yet romantic portraits to conclude this epic elopement.
